organizations in the arts, human rights, healthcare advocacy, and foundation sectors. After starting national and local nonprofits her work now is focused on advising philanthropy for impact investments through kind and direct financial support.
Cathie’s career includes running successfully and unsuccessfully for public office. For 10 years she provided cultural commentary as a radio talk show host and TV political commentary. She has worked with multiple corporations, foundations and nonprofits as a panel moderator, speaker and facilitator for crisis management, strategic planning and philanthropic strategy. She has trained candidates, volunteers and coached next generation nonprofit leaders.
She currently serves on the board of The MS Foundation for Women, Birds Nest Foundation, The Global Recovery Initiatives Foundation, Kodjoe Family Foundation, and Americans for Democratic Action. She is an advisor to Emory University’s Center for Spina Bifida Research and Public Policy.
Born in the South, raised in the Midwest, careered in the East, she now lives with her husband, artist, John Monto in St. Augustine, FL after raising two stepsons who live off the grid near the Volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii!

Ray Baker is associate Clinical Professor at the University of British Columbia., certified in both Family Medicine and Addiction Medicine.
He designed and directed the first comprehensive Addiction Medicine Curriculum at University of British Columbia’s Medical School. From 1993 to 1997 he represented Canada on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Addiction Medicine.
Dr Baker served as principal author for British Columbia first standards of practice in Addiction Medicine, adopted as policy by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC. He served as principal author of the Medical Rules for Safety Critical Railway Workers with Substance Use Disorders, in force for over a decade in Canada’s Railway Industry. He has served as principal investigator on a major research project for the World Health Organization and in several stage 2-4 clinical trials investigating experimental treatments for smoking cessation, cocaine dependence, obesity and chronic back pain. As a member of the Canadian Centre on Substance Use Research Expert Advisory Committee he helped design, implement and interpret Canada’s Life in Recovery Survey in 2016.
He has testified in provincial and Supreme court, arbitration and disciplinary hearings as an expert witness in areas of Addiction Medicine (medical, neurobiological, pharmacological, psychological and social effects of mood-altering substances), chronic pain and the other invisible disabilities. For more than 30 years his primary focus was on occupational addiction medicine, the interface between addictions, the workplace, organized labor, employees and their families.
In 2022 he received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from the Canadian Society of Addiction Medicine.
Ray is a person in active long-term recovery from addiction.
Andrea Grubb Barthwell, M.D., D.F.A.S.A.M., is the Founder of Encounter Medical Group, P.C., she manages and consults through the global health care policy firm, EM Global, and is Director at Two Dreams, a comprehensive alcoholism and addiction treatment system. Reflecting her long-term commitment to individuals with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD), she was named as the founding Chair of the Board of the Foundation for Opioid Response Effort (FORE) with a $100 million endowment.
Dr. Barthwell served as Deputy Director for Demand Reduction in the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) under President George W. Bush from 2002 to 2004. As a member of the President’s sub-cabinet, Dr. Barthwell was a principal advisor on policies aimed at reducing the demand for illicit drugs.
Dr. Barthwell’s current work is focused on developing strategies to expand access to treatment for opioid use disorder, expanding practitioner knowledge of urine drug testing in the identification and treatment of substance use disorders, and helping individuals and families prevent substance use disorders.
Dr. Barthwell received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Wesleyan University and a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Michigan Medical School. Following post-graduate training at the University of Chicago and Northwestern University Medical Center, she began her practice in the Chicago area. She was a founding member of the Chicago Area AIDS Task Force, hosted a weekly local cable show on AIDS, and was president of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM).
In 2003, Dr. Barthwell received the Betty Ford Award from the Association for Medical Education and Research in Substance Abuse. In 1997, Dr. Barthwell’s peers named her one of the “Best Doctors in America” in addiction medicine.
Tom Berkery is a Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) where he serves in their Capital Markets and Accounting Advisory Services (CMAAS) group.
Tom helps advise large corporations, private equity investors, and investment bankers on complex accounting and financial reporting issues associated with mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and other corporate finance transactions.
He is a CFA charter holder, and a licensed CPA in the state of New York. He currently lives in Brooklyn.
Alexandra Cameron is the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Government Initiatives for iHeartMedia. She also leads iHeartMedia’s significant commitment toward combatting the opioid epidemic, including its role as cofounder of The National Opioid Action Coalition (NOAC). iHeart’s active role in responding to the crisis has included thought leadership events and multiple audio and digital campaigns to heighten awareness and break stigma around substance use disorder, including a National Recovery Month effort which enlisted artist support from Macklemore, Camila Cabello, Dan + Shay, and others.
iHeartMedia and NOAC have adopted the Global Recovery Initiatives Foundation (GRI) as a charitable partner for substance use disorder issues. Alexandra is also on the Advertising Week Advisory Council and is the former CEO of Keek, a startup social video network, growing it to 75 million users.

Matt Escoubas is the Director of Social Impact at FORS Marsh, a research-first communications agency. With over 25 years of experience in marketing communications across federal, corporate, and nonprofit sectors, Matt leads Serve, the company’s employee-driven division addressing systemic social inequities.
His primary focus is improving recovery services and support for individuals with substance use disorders. Matt spearheads a multi-year research investment aimed at mobilizing public and private organizations to prioritize workplace recovery initiatives. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with multiple federal health agencies, including HHS, SAMHSA, NIDA, CDC, ONDCP, FDA, and NIAAA, on public health campaigns spanning substance use, heart disease, asthma, smoking cessation, nursing research, and pediatric palliative care.
A purpose-driven leader, Matt’s efforts have garnered numerous public health industry accolades, such as the PR News Platinum Award, Bronze Anvil Award, National Health Information Awards, and Thoth Awards.
